Trek or train it to Machu Picchu
Whether you hike the hard but oh-so-worth-it Inca Trail or take the scenic train, nothing can prepare you for seeing this Inca citadel in the flesh. Built in the 15th century, historians are still puzzling over its exact purpose and the ruins continue to reveal secrets about the Inca Empire today.
Visit Titicaca's floating islands
Sail out to the Floating Isands of Uros to meet the Indigenous Uros people and gain an insight into their unique way of life. Totora reeds grow in the lake’s shallows and are a lifeline for the community. The reeds are used to build islands, boats, homes and furniture, while the roots make food and medicine.
Connect with Indigenous communities
Travel through the terraced hills of the Sacred Valley to meet the Indigenous Huilloc community keeping ancient Andean traditions alive. Share a traditional pachamanca (earth oven) meal, try your hand at weaving and take part in a Pachamama blessing ceremony to give thanks and connect with Mother Earth.
Explore Colca Canyon
At over 10,827 ft deep, this is one of the world's deepest canyons (roughly twice as deep as Arizona's Grand Canyon for some perspective!). Stop in traditional Andean villages for a coca tea, hike past terraces farmed since Inca times or unwind with a soak in a volcanic hot spring. If you're lucky, you might see an Andean condor, one of the world's largest flying birds, soaring through the air.
