Guatemala Tours & Vacations

Bienvenidos! Welcome to Guatemala – a land of ancient civilizations, steamy jungles and laidback locals.

This coffee-growing, lava-flowing, jungle-clad landscape definitely doesn't hold back when it comes to color – think retro chicken buses cruising down the highway, pastel-painted buildings lining the cobbled streets of historic Antigua and vibrant wares on sale at market stalls in Chichicastenango. And whether you're cruising down the Rio Dulce to Garifuna-influenced Livingston, strolling around the quaint island of Flores in Lago Peten Itza, or trekking to the Maya ruins of Tikal, your Guatemalan adventure will unlock all but one of its highland secrets – how this Central American beauty is still largely undiscovered will continue to remain a mystery.

Guatemala to Belize

Loved having Sergio as a group leader! Very knowledgeable and sweet. The trip was well organized. Hiking/swimming the ATM Cave was amazing and worth the additional cost. Thankfully all the hotels had air conditioning (it was during a heat wave), and several had pools. I will book with Intrepid again in the future.

Exploring Guatemala is a one of a kind experience! If you want to be off the beaten track and fully immersed in Mayan traditions, culture, and food, this tour is a must! Absolutely sign up for the Mayan cooking class!! Spending a the first and last day of the trip exploring Antigua is a wonderful way to start and end the Guatemalan journey :)

The Mayan Encounter tour was an unexpected and absolute delight. Our tour leader was fantastic, the activities were great fun, the local food delicious and we saw some mind-blowing places. I recommend it to everyone. I never knew that Central America and its people was so lovely.

ATM Caves in Belize, private boat hire in Rio Dulce and the guided tour of Tikal were the absolute highlights of this trip for me. Attention future travellers: you do NOT need to pay an "exit fee" when leaving Mexico if you arrived there via a commercial flight. Just show them your flight itinerary.
