Classic Inca Trail

With its spectacular natural scenery and profound cultural encounters, the Inca Trail is an international beacon for trekking. Attracting thousands of hikers each year, it's a challenging yet rewarding hike that stays with you for a lifetime. Although rated moderate, the relentless uphill (and downhill) hiking is tough - the fitter you are, the more you’ll enjoy it.

Inca Quarry Trail

For an impressive hike off the beaten path, consider the Inca Quarry Trail. This lesser-known trek offers the same magical scenery of the Andes mountains, passing through local villages and visiting three smaller archaeological sites the other trails don’t. Another bonus is that the hike doesn’t require a permit – so once you book, you’re set.

Choquequirao Trail

Take your boots further with a challenging eight-day hike moving through high-altitude cloud forests, over mega mountain passes and along an ancient trail leading to the well-preserved Inca city ruins of Choquequirao. This trail might be secluded and not for the faint-hearted but it's also one adventure you'll never forget, and that's a promise.

This is a challenge folks! Both inside and out. Your spirt, your knowledge and calves will all grow. It’s not easy but you can do it and will be better for it. If you fall the family you gain during the trip will pick you back up. It was awe inspiring and I now have a new happy place.

Inca Trail Express

Inca Trail was such a rewarding experience. This trip overall was wonderful and there’s not one thing I would change about it. The hotels stayed at were clean and comfy. Food was absolutely delicious. If you’re thinking about it, do it!! I can’t rave about this trip enough and Holger is an awesome guide!

Classic Peru

Tamara · Traveled March 2024
Trip of a lifetime. Have travelled a fair amount, though never with a tour group. Before we left, it felt like a lot of money, but whilst we were on the trip, it felt absolutely worth it. Some amazing memories, and especially the local experiences that I never would’ve got if I’d organised myself. I understand why so many people are repeat Intrepid customers. I can recommend earplugs/noise cancelling headphones for most of the hotels though. Most hotels didn't have adequate soundproofing - a fair few tired people each morning! Probably need 50 GBP in soles and 50 GBP in USD minimum for tips. Extra for spending money. Ubaldo/Bobby was a fantastic tour guide - interesting, funny and very knowledgeable with any question we asked. I will be saving up for my next intrepid tour as soon as I’m back 👌🏻

Inca Trail Express from Lima

I had an amazing experience with Intrepid doing the Inca Trail in Peru! Our guide was super knowledgeable and I learned so much about the local history, culture, and environment. I could see the tangible difference between Intrepid and other tour groups in terms of socially responsible travel - we stayed only in locally-owned accommodations, we had the opportunity to visit local communities and support traditional textile artists, and our porters on the Inca Trail had supportive gear and protected working conditions. I have never traveled with a tour group before, but would absolutely travel with Intrepid again.
