As the first Soviet republic to declare its independence from the Soviet Union in 1990, this slice of fairy-tale Europe – replete with medieval castles and primeval forests – is just begging to be explored

Once the largest empire on the European continent, Lithuania’s history reads at times like a Game of Thrones episode and presents much for those looking to discover a new side of Europe. With architectural splendors spanning the gothic to renaissance to baroque to bohemian, a hearty national cuisine, and – would you believe it – a stunning stretch of sand dune coast, Lithuania bewitches all those who visit.

How we're giving back

In Lithuania, we stay in locally run accommodation including guesthouses, smaller-scale hotels and homestays in an effort to support the local economies. We also visit locally-run restaurants and markets where travelers will have opportunities to support local businesses and purchase handicrafts created by local artisans.
