Paella served fresh in Spain
Spain – paella

This saffron-flavored rice dish originated in Valencia hundreds of years ago when hungry servants would combine rice with leftovers from Moorish kings' lavish banquets. The dish varies across the regions, but the mixed version with chorizo, mussels and prawns is the most popular internationally.

Where you can try authentic local food

Why choose us

Real, authentic experiences

We love the highlights, but for us, the real magic is found off the tourist trails. Our trips combine iconic sites with hidden gems that you’ll only discover with Intrepid. We’re talking mornings exploring the Taj Mahal, followed by a Mughlai cooking class with a passionate home cook.

Local expertise

Whether you’re perusing markets, hunting down the best street food bites or learning how to cook centuries-old family recipes at a homestay, there’s no better way to get the inside scoop on a destination – and its culinary traditions – than with an expert local leader by your side.

Small groups

Big coaches and flag-toting tour guides don’t cut it for us. With a maximum group size of 12, our groups blend in with the locals and have plenty of opportunities to interact with chefs, street food vendors and group leaders. It also means you can really connect with your fellow foodies.

South Korea Real Food Adventure

Salima · Traveled June 2024
First trip to South Korea and couldn’t have asked for a better and well rounded itinerary. It is a food tour and food we ate. All the food was amazing and our guide Yong did an excellent job of explaining the customs and traditions of it all. Beef Ssambap and Pebble beach grilled seafood was “chef’s kiss”. I really enjoyed traveling in public transport, Hanok and Temple stay. The hotels in Busan and Seoul could have been better. HIGHLY recommend this tour.

I highly recommend this trip! Our guide Georgia was absolutely fantastic and Intrepid provided a well-rounded experience of food, history, scenery, and visits to local producers. We were truly immersed in the flavours of Greece. In addition to that, the itinerary gave us the opportunity to swim in the beautiful clear blue water and enjoy other activities such as kayaking, which was one of my personal highlights. Not to mention the excellent accommodation and the amazing cooking class - an unforgettable experience all around.

Japan Real Food Adventure

Hayley · Traveled June 2024
We loved this tour. Our guide Dai was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the areas we visited. He managed our groups preferences well and was able to make the trip enjoyable for everyone and meet all our our expectations. We ate so much good food on our tour, and even more on Dai's recommendations. This trip was a great balance of key attractions on the tourist trail and more specific food related activities. Would recommend this trip for anyone wanting to experience the key sights of Japan with a more food based focus.
