The Galapagos is one of the most unique places on the planet. Where animals demonstrate the theory of evolution, landmasses demonstrate both the beauty and volcanic power of the earth and the environment has embraced its wildlife rather than population growth. Then there’s the spectacular snorkelling, swimming, hiking and relaxation to be enjoyed. For the best of the Galapagos, look no further than this classic adventure.

Enjoy a classic adventure in the Galapagos Islands

Highlights

Itinerary

Start this adventure in the celebrated city of Quito. Perhaps wander through the Old Town for a lively introduction to the city.
Get ready for the trip of a lifetime as today we fly to the Galapagos. Meet your crew and settle in to life on board before setting sail for Santa Cruz. Head inland through a cloud forest, keeping your eyes out for giant tortoises and woodpeckers.
It’s wildlife galore on Santa Fe. Snorkel with sea lions and spot myriad species of animals: turtles, lava lizards and mockingbirds to name a few. Take a hike around the island and cool down in the turquoise waters. Then make tracks to stunning South Plaza, another wildlife haven with some dramatic cliff scenery and volcanic landscapes.
Enjoy the antics of the thousands of birds that call Espanola home. Waved albatross, Galapagos doves, mockingbirds and blue-footed and masked boobies all nest here in massive numbers. Wander among them while walking trails and shorelines. Relax on Gardner Beach and go snorkelling in the clear waters.
Walk over the impressive volcanic landscape of Punta Pitt. Take a panga ride to get closer to booby nesting sites, then admire Kicker Rock and its residents on a cruise through its central channel. Snorkelling may even bring you close to (friendly) sharks and sea turtles.
Learn about the intriguing geography and history of the Galapagos at the San Cristobal Interpretation Center. Then head for the highlands to meet some of the island’s famous giant tortoises.
The volcanic landscapes of Bartolome Island are intriguing. Explore the lava flows and parasitic spatter cones while climbing to a summit for views over the island. Snorkelling is also great here, with tropical fish and even the odd ray and penguin joining us.
Have a swim at the pristine Espumilla Beach before spending time at Buccaneer’s Cove, an old pirate hideout. See volcanic tuff formations and admire the black-sand beach of Puerto Egas. As always, there are lots of animals to appreciate – marine iguanas, pelicans, Galapagos fur sea lions among others all hang out here.
Spend time at the Charles Darwin Research Station, which is a showcase of the archipelago's history and conservation efforts and lets visitors get up close to giant tortoises and their newborn. There’s also time to hang out in the town of Puerto Ayora before the flight back to Quito.
This Classic Galapagos adventure ends today after breakfast.
