A unique partnership with WWF-Australia.
Join a team of naturalists, marine biologists and WWF-Australia's scientists aboard the Ocean Endeavour on one of two incredible itineraries to Antarctica. Have the chance to learn about their non-invasive whale research project as you search for humpback and minke whales, seals and penguins. Explore the ice-filled waters by Zodiac as well as setting foot on the world's most remote continent. Most of the world’s whale species are found in Antarctica, living alongside more than 9,000 other species, half of which are seen nowhere else in the world. Sadly, as climate change and krill fishing increase, Antarctica’s whale populations face growing challenges to their food chain and survival. With a scientific focus on preserving this unique ecosystem, this is a journey you’ll carry with you for a lifetime.

About the partnership
-
WWF-Australia researchers will be conducting scientific research into Antarctica’s great whales, looking to find solutions to further protect them in the future and sharing it onboard our Ocean Endeavour voyages.Â
-
This partnership will offer travellers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn more about WWF-Australia's work through a number of interactive experiences.
-
The Intrepid Foundation, Intrepid's not-for-profit arm, will support WWF-Australia’s Protecting Antarctic Giants project with AUD $150,000. The data collected during the project will directly contribute to our understanding of Antarctica’s whale populations and to developing a conservation policy.
-
We've doubled our carbon offset commitment for every customer travelling on the Ocean Endeavour and invested in sustainable initiatives across the Antarctic region to further support WWF.
-
All our Antarctica departures have a range of experts on board including naturalists and marine biologists. You'll be exploring Antarctica with a team of WWF scientists on board who are undertaking a whale research and tagging project.
