Serengeti Trail

An overall amazing trip. It’s basic so don’t expect the ritz but totally wonderful. Camping in the Serengeti is something I will never forget.

Nairobi to Stone Town

Leila · Traveled March 2023
Overall, this was a great trip with a good itinerary and great team. Some observations for potential participants: Pros: -The Serengeti portion was fantastic - great animal sightings and our local guide/driver Very was excellent. -Zanzibar is a very cool mix of old world cultures and pristine beaches, which was really unique. -Had a nice group size and mix of welcoming and kind people from various countries. -Caroline and the Intrepid team were kind, accessible, and made me feel confident, safe and looked after throughout the trip. Cons: -You rarely stay in any place for more than one night, and the constant unpacking and repacking can get old after a while. -The early starts really are early - you're expected to be up and helping with washing at breakfast between 5am-6am most days. -Very little downtime. For some, this may be a pro, but this certainly wasn't a trip to catch up on reading, sleep, laundry, or general relaxation. -Effectively 3 of the 11 days are full travel days on a bus, so that's a big chunk of time. Most of these "cons" came down to itinerary design and in Intrepid's defense they are spelled out clearly in the essential info, but they're worth highlighting again. In summary, if you're looking for a bit more comfort than roughing it through campgrounds and spending days in a bus, I'd suggest looking at other options. However, if you're looking for an affordable way to experience an African safari and Tanzanian culture, this is a great option!

Kilimanjaro: Marangu Route

Madeleine · Traveled March 2023
The Kilimanjaro trek was a trip of a lifetime - as a young, solo female traveller I felt completely supported and safe by our Intrepid team throughout the entire trip. Our amazing guides motivated us the whole week, and the cook kept us fuelled with amazing food! The group was fabulous and we were all so close by the end of the week. A truly phenomenal experience, couldn’t fault anything!
