Our average group size of 10 (usually 3 to 5 like-minded families) means we can use local transport, eat at family-run restaurants, and stay in traditional guesthouses and homestays. All relations are welcome – as long as you’re with a child aged between 5 and 17, you’re a family in our eyes.
Solo parent family vacations
Just you and the kids? Perfect
Planning a family vacation can be a lot, especially when you’re tackling it solo. So why not leave it with us? While we don't run trips exclusively for solo-parent families, the families that travel with us come in all shapes and sizes. The kids tend to hit it off straight away, and the grown-ups enjoy having other adults to connect with. With all the planning sorted, an itinerary filled with 'remember when we...’ moments and a local leader to help you find your way in new places, you can focus on what matters most: making memories with your children.

Visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see the world’s smallest (and only tropical) bears. Founder Dr Wong will teach you all about these intriguing forest dwellers – from their personalities to their unique chest markings – before sitting down to make puzzle feeders and scent-based enrichment toys. Then watch your toys be put to the test from the observation platform.
Ancient Egypt is usually a favorite topic for kids at school, so it’s pretty special watching the tales of Cleopatra, Khufu and Tutankhamun come to life through their eyes. Visit the iconic Pyramids, which have stood tall for 4500 years, feel tiny as you stand beneath the Great Sphinx and wander the Mummies Hall for a close encounter with some of Egypt’s most famous queens and pharaohs.
A floating safari, you say? The Okavango Delta is a 6178 sq mi inland delta (that’s roughly half the size of Belgium) where you’ll find one of Africa’s highest concentrations of wildlife. Jump in a mokoro (traditional canoe) with an expert poler and explore the maze of lilypad-covered lagoons, lakes and streams. Look out for crocs sunning themselves on the banks and elephants playing in the mud. With a bit of luck, you might even lock eyes with a hippo.
Why choose us
We know one of the hardest parts of family travel is keeping the kids entertained, which is why our trips have loads of fun, educational activities for both children and grown-ups. We try to keep travel time to a minimum, use hotels with pools where we can and include plenty of free time to do your own thing. Your leader can also suggest activities based on your kids’ hobbies or curriculum.
Our leaders are specially trained to run family adventures, so you and the kids will be well taken care of. You can also rest easy knowing we conduct safety assessments on all our activities to meet local standards as well as our own comprehensive safety policy.
Making a difference has been part of our journey from day one. Through our non-profit, The Intrepid Foundation, we support organizations driving change around the world. And as a certified B Corp, we’re committed to doing good through the joy of travel.
