Mount Toubkal Treks & Tours

Autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) provide the best conditions for trekking in the Atlas Mountains, with milder nights and less chance of snow.

Trekking through the snow in winter (December to February) is an extraordinary experience in its own right, and a great challenge for experienced hikers. 

If you plan on trekking during this time, you'll need to use crampons and ice picks, but you'll be treated to brilliant snow-capped mountain scenery and the trail will be less crowded. 

You will be walking anywhere between 2 to 6 miles per day, although changes in altitude can affect hiking time and distance.

Yes, yes and yes. You will need hiking boots to complete this trek (don't try to complete it in sneakers).

Your hiking boots should be comfortable (wear them in before the trek to avoid getting blisters along the way), water-resistant, sturdy and have plenty of ankle support. 

Our Mount Toubkal trekking trips have a rating of 4 or higher, so you need to be reasonably fit and healthy to complete the trek comfortably.

This doesn't mean you must spend hours in the gym in preparation, but it's definitely worth increasing your usual exercise routine in the lead-up to your trip.

This could look like extra walks, participating in local hikes around your area and doing more cardio.

Previous mountain climbing or hiking experience is also recommended.

You will have to carry a bag/backpack with you for your snacks, camera, reusable drink bottle etc.

There will be mules accompanying you on your trek that will carry your luggage, so you don't have to.

Yes! Your leader will be equipped with an advanced first aid kit for the duration of the trek, but please remember to carry your own personal medicine.

Pack medicine for altitude sickness if you know you are at risk to such conditions. 

We offer two different Mount Toubkal itineraries to suit different trekking styles. The classic Mount Toubkal Trek is the best choice if you're new to climbing 4000-meter peaks. For those with winter hiking experience, the Mount Toubkal Winter Trek offers a more challenging option. Expect colder conditions, the use of crampons and fewer crowds on the mountain... perfect if you're after a tougher climb and a quieter trail.
