There is no specific best time to visit Melbourne however, the weather is generally best from October to March during the spring and summer seasons.

During these times, the days will be slightly longer and typically sunnier with less rainfall.

While ocean temperatures never get as warm as those further north in Australia, they are generally warmest towards the end of summer.

Depending on if you are planning to go hiking in the Grampians or down to the coast to swim, you’ll need specific gear for your trip. 

In the colder months, from April to September, be sure to pack an array of layers, including a waterproof jacket, as temperatures in Melbourne do get cool.
