Before you book you should know
- Please keep your luggage as small and light as possible. You'll be travelling on public transport where storage space is limited. You'll need to be able to lift your luggage into storage racks, walk across cobblestone streets with it and carry it up and down stairs.
- The primary form of transportation on this trip is scheduled local and intercity trains that travel on the railway tracks that were once used by the historical Orient Express in the late 19th century. We use standard, economy and/or second class local carriages, depending on availability. Cabins on the overnight train from Plovdiv to Istanbul are quad-share bunk-style. Please see the daily itinerary for more details. Minor delays of trains can be common.
- Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds and rooms can be small by American or Australian standards.
- One of the pleasures of travelling in Europe is the ease at which cities can be explored on foot. Your leader will take you on frequent orientation walks, and you’ll be able to explore further in your own time. We recommend you pack comfortable walking shoes for this trip.

3. We recommend packing light and smart for this trip as you'll be expected to be able to carry your bags unaided on and off the carriages (and sometimes up and down stairs at railway stations as not all of them have lifts) and possibly between train stations and hotels. Please pack accordingly.
4. Due to a border crossing with Turkey, we require your full name and passport details at the time of booking in order to secure relevant transfers. Fees may apply for adding or amending details within 60 days of departure.
