B Corp certification recognises businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. For us, that means tracking our impact on local communities, customers, suppliers and the planet.
In September 2026, we recertified as a B Corp under B Lab’s new standards, and we’re proud to be one of the first travel companies globally to certify under the new framework. The framework provides a more comprehensive foundation for continuous improvement, helping us understand where we’re making progress and where we can do better.
What our B Corp certification means
Certified B Corporations are companies that look after their staff, work toward a more inclusive supply chain and take corporate social responsibility to the next level.
For us, becoming a B Corp meant taking the work we've already done up a notch, and conducting extensive audits every three years to ensure we meet the highest responsible business standards.
What's changed?
B Lab’s new standards
B Lab has introduced new global standards for B Corp certification, replacing its previous points-based assessment system with an approach that focuses on measurable performance and continuous improvement.
Mandatory performance requirements
Businesses must now meet defined performance requirements across areas covered in the framework, and certification is no longer based on reaching a single overall score.
Independent third-party verification
B Corp certification involves independent verification and third-party assurance. This adds another level of analysis to the information and evidence businesses provide about their impact.
Seven Impact Topics
The new B Lab standards assess businesses across seven Impact Topics, creating a more consistent and comprehensive approach to responsible business.
The seven Impact Topics include:
- Purpose and Stakeholder Governance
- Climate Action
- Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
- Government Affairs and Collective Action
- Fair Work
- Human Rights
Environmental Stewardship and Circularity
For us, this includes our commitments within our core business, as well as our community investment through The Intrepid Foundation.
How B Corp certification works
The people behind B Corp certification are called B Lab and they're a not-for-profit organisation with offices all over the world. B stands for “benefit” – for people and the planet, not just shareholders.
Under B Lab’s new standards, companies must meet mandatory requirements across seven Impact Topics and demonstrate the systems, policies and evidence behind their performance. The new standards also recognise that certification is not a one-time achievement – it provides a framework to encourage businesses to keep raising standards, strengthening processes and being more transparent about progress.
Our B Corp journey
Intrepid has been a B Corp since 2018, and in 2024, we recertified under B Lab’s previous standards with a score of 102.5. While that score was an important part of the certification process at the time, B Lab’s new standards no longer award businesses an overall achievement score.
In September, 2026, we certified under B Lab’s new global standards, becoming one of the first large travel companies to do so.
Our latest certification reflects the way we operate as a global business and the systems we have in place to measure and improve our impact.
Why independent certification matters
Our B Corp certification provides an independently assessed framework for how we operate and where we can continue to improve. For the first time, Stay Intrepid properties are also included in our certification assessment, giving us a broader view of our practices across the business. B Corp certification doesn’t mean we’ve gotten everything right – it gives us a process to help us keep improving while holding us accountable for the work still ahead.
Certification notice
“’Certified B Corporation” is a trademark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organisation. The assurance provider (3rd Party) conducts an in-depth audit to independently verify the company's Self-Assessment (BIA) and determine the certification outcome. The audit process is managed in a separate platform. This has been a key change of the new standards and meets the ECGT requirements.
It is specified that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body as defined by Regulation (EU) No 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardisation body as per Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012. The criteria of the BIA are distinct and independent from the harmonised standards resulting from ISO norms or other standardisaation bodies, and they are not ratified by national or European public institutions.
