Why you'll love this trip
  • Travel with a local leader who will share the magic of Uzbekistan's "holiest city" in Bukhara, tell the ancient tales of historic Khiva, and guide you through the extraordinary architecture of Samarkand.
  • Uncover Tashkent’s Soviet legacy and its contemporary culture. Explore the vast Chorsu Bazaar and embrace the hustle and bustle in this one of Asia's oldest markets.
  • Immerse yourself in Uzbek culture when you visit a typical local village, learn the art of sewing suzani, chat to the friendly villagers and enjoy a traditional lunch together.
  • Stay within in the walls of Uzbekistan’s history during feature stays in an old Jewish house converted into a gorgeous boutique hotel in Bukhara, and a centuries-old medressa turned opulent and elegant hotel in Khiva.
  • Understand local life through food – join a local family in Samarkand for a cooking class of the quintessential Central Asian rice dish – plov, and enjoy a taste of Khorezmian culture during a family cooking class in Khiva.
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, Eden Reforestation Projects. Donations help them provide local employment opportunities and tackle climate change one tree at a time as they restore forests across 10 different countries.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This trip is for anyone keen to get a glimpse into a part of the world steeped in Silk Road legend, with plenty of focus on the architecture and key historical sights of the country.

This trip provided a great introduction to Uzbekistan and the region. The pacing of the trip and duration all worked well. This was my first premium trip with Intrepid and it was well worth the cost. Lochin was our guide and was AMAZING. From start to finish he made sure the trip went smoothly. He's extremely knowledgeable about the area and is patient and kind. I highly recommend this trip and Lochin.

I will always remember this trip fondly. The itinerary is a great balance of history, culture, art, and mingling with the locals. Our guide Lochin was awesome. Beyond his professionalism and clear passion for his country, I was so impressed with his organization skills - he kept the tour moving smoothly and showed so much care for each person in the group - a true pro. Uzbekistan will steal your heart, go explore this amazing country! I will say the trip is challenging for vegetarians and I wouldn't recommend it for vegans.
