Tahiti & the Pearls of French Polynesia

Yen · Traveled October 2023
Rough ride but wonderful staff. If you are prone to motion sickness, this trip is definitely not for you. The long journey from island to island was really rough (lots of swells so boat bounced around a lot). However, the staff was fantastic and made the trip worth it.

Tahiti, the Society and Tuamotu Islands

To say that I am disappointed with the itinerary changes on my recent trip on Panorama II would be an understatement. I waited and saved money for a decade to explore French Polynesia. I specifically booked this trip and itinerary because I wanted to see more. I have sailed throughout the world and I understand itinerary changes due to weather, but I full-heartedly believe that was only half the issue. I think the bigger issue was the fact that the equipment was not working, specifically the ZODIAC. Because there was no zodiac for the entirety of the trip, I feel the itinerary had to change as we would be unable to access many of the atolls. I DO NOT feel Vareity Cruises compensated enough for this major equipment failure. Basically, customers paid double for the 7 days cruise. If Variety compensated more and valued its clients more for such drastic mistakes on the Aug 25 departure. The company oversold and underdelivered. For a cruise booked to two completely different areas and to only see one was heartbreaking. Additionally, had the zodiac been working, the ship could have at least parked in different areas around the islands to give customers variety and the beautiful array of views they were expecting when booking for 11 days. I firmly believe Variety owes its customers a partial refund for customers on the August 25 departure.

Tahiti & the Pearls of French Polynesia

maura · Traveled August 2023
The trip it self was great, there was only @ 24 of us on board. The bedroom and wait staff were amazing. The Hotel manager was unhelpful. There were no activities in the evening - so much could have been offered. We were left to arrange our own entertainment - most of the time it was discussing what had happened during the day, or didnt! The PA system didn't work , so all you heard were the announcement bells, but no content. I got sick of hearing that they were all new crew, change of Captain etc, and thats why things were falling apart or didn't eventuate. Lack of warning re 16 hour trip to Tahiti, no duty of care provided by Hotel Manager I have worked at sea for 4 years , and in my experience it all seemed a bit of a mess with lack of coordination
