Located on the west coast of the United States and neighbouring the Pacifc Ocean, Los Angeles is categorized as having a type of subtropical climate that sees mild, sunny and relatively dry weather for most of the year. Temperatures in Los Angeles rarely get too hot or too cold with July and January being the warmest and coldest months respectively.

Does Los Angeles ever get cold?

The Winter months (December, January, February) in LA are regarded as the rainiest but are also the clearest when it comes to cloud coverage. Whilst temperatures in Winter can get down to 40°F, they rarely ever go below that and may even warm up depending on the Santa Ana winds.

If you're traveling to Los Angeles in Winter, make sure to pack jeans, long pants, sweaters and long-sleeved tops to ensure you don't get too cold. You may also want to pack an umbrella for days where it might rain.
