Only have 10 days to spare? No worries
In a country as big as Australia, you could spend a lifetime exploring its endless coastlines, ancient rainforests and vast deserts. But you can squeeze a lot into 10 days with our jam-packed itineraries. Combine wine, wildlife and wilderness in the South Australian Outback. Hike across the magical Kimberly region. Or marvel at the ever-changing colours of the West Coast on a 4WD safari from Perth to Broome. With small groups, a legendary local leader and opportunities to learn about the stories and traditions of Australia's First Nations peoples, we reckon 10 days is more than enough to fall under its spell.

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards
From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises). However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.
Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.
Australia is a huge country with diverse landscapes and climates. However, no matter what type of adventure you go on, here are a few essential items you should bring:
- Reusable water bottle
- Day bag
- Sunglasses (with UV protection)
- Warm layers, e.g. a jumper or hoodie
- Insect repellent
- Portable power bank
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Lightweight towel
Internet access is widely available in Australian cities, towns and tourist hubs. Please note that wi-fi and internet access will be limited or unavailable in the Outback and remote areas.
You sure do. Everyone travelling with Intrepid is required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your leader will record your travel insurance details on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.
Australians are not required to be covered for hospital care due to being covered by Medicare. However we strongly recommend that Australians have a domestic travel insurance policy that covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. It's also strongly advisable that Australians have current ambulance cover in the case of an emergency evacuation or incidents requiring ambulance transportation.
For more information on insurance, please go to our Travel Insurance hub.
Drinking water from taps in Australia is considered safe, unless otherwise marked. For environmental reasons, try to use a refillable water bottle rather than buying bottled water.
Intrepid is committed to making travel widely accessible, regardless of ability or disability. That’s why we do our best to help as many people see the world as possible, regardless of any physical or mental limitations they might have. However, we’re always happy to talk to travellers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them towards the most suitable itinerary for their needs and where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.
