South Africa Tours & Holidays

The whole ‘country of contrasts’ thing has become a bit of a cliché

But what else do you call a place where (in a three-week period) you could happily slalom between penguins waddling on the Cape and lions stalking the bushveld, cinematic coastal switchbacks and burnt Kalahari sand, the oldest wine industry outside Europe and cutting-edge fusion cuisine? ‘Contrast’, doesn’t really do South Africa justice. The beauty of a South Africa tour (besides the peace of mind that comes with an expert local guide) is being able to fit so much Africa into so little time. From the Stellenbosch winelands to Kruger, Blyde River and beyond, this is a place where you can take your safari with a side of espresso.

South Africa Family Safari with Teenagers

Eva · Traveled June 2024
Absolutely must do trip for families with teenagers. Both myself and my teenage daughter enjoyed all the activities: cycling, canoeing, walking and unforgettable game drives. Our tour guide Jean was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the country and animals and also very caring person. Our other team members Dimpho and Nkanyiso were awesome, we had amazing meals cooked in the savannahs camps and were always well organised arriving to camps in plenty of time to relax and enjoy. We got to sample local food, taste famous South African wine and learn about the culture. But the highlights of the trip were definitely encounters with animals and nature, embracing the power and beauty of this country. We had a great trip and the people we met and travelled with from diverse parts of the world made it even better. To truly rate this trip it would be 100 stars! Thanks so much Intrepid Team.

South Africa Family Safari with Teenagers

Kirsten · Traveled June 2024
We had a great adventure in South Africa with our 16 year old daughter. It was a fun group of fellow travellers from across the globe and everyone had a great attitude to the trip. Our guide was enthusiastic and fab. Our driver was safe and good fun. Our cook did a great job keeping us fed and happy. I’m. It a camper but the tents were easy to assemble, the mattresses were comfortable and the camp sites were great. Kruger was busy but great facilities and just an incredible day out. A wonderful experience and our family loved it.

Premium Southern Africa

Maitreyi · Traveled June 2024
I hesitate to write this short review, simply because I have so much I want to say and convey , I feel I may not be able tell you how amazingly happy I am having taken this trip! I am 71 years old, have severe osteoarthritis and asthma. I wondered how I would do on this trip. The wonderful thing is that once I met Johannes, our leader, I wasn’t too worried. His calm, yet happy and excited nature, put me at ease right away. From what I saw the entire group of travellers were all very relaxed, knowing we were in good hands- Johannes would take care of us in every way, all would go well. My point is, is any of the trips interest you- don’t hesitate. Go on a trip with Intrepid!!

Vic Falls to Kruger

Amanda · Traveled June 2024
Vic Falls to Joburg was exactly what I expected (read the essentials!). Saw 4/5 of the big five, experienced different cultures, and met a range of locals and visitors. Be aware - this tour joins a longer trip. The long bus rides are on rough(!!!) roads, at least in Zimbabwe.
