Centuries of isolation have lent the kingdom of Tibet a deep sense of spirituality and mysticism. Once upon a time you could only get there after conquering treacherous terrain and fierce warrior monks, but now – despite the complex political situation – Tibet’s open for travellers to explore. Surround yourself with smoke, incense and the murmuring of the faithful in endless temples and monasteries and experience giddy Everest views. Cross high-altitude passes, twist through towering peaks past plodding yaks, and discover contemporary Tibetan life – a mix of pilgrims and pop music, monks and mobile phones.

I believe the "office" service has declined - the trip was a total success due to the group leader qualities and good organization on the field

First and last time Intrepid traveler. Trip itinerary is inaccurate and I was disappointed to find out there is NO hike to Everest base camp as it has been closed to the public for over 18 months, yet it stays on Intrepids website. Day two is an entire free day. The tour guides are awesome and made this trip great (but can't be sure the same on all trips). Intrepid should not rely on guides to make up for their short comings. Overall I enjoyed the tour but disappointed by the inaccurate trip notes.
