  • Embark on a spectacular Night-lit Walk through Katoomba Falls Reserve and experience the beauty of the falls lit up at night.

  • Visit Everglades House and Gardens and wander through the European-inspired 1930’s homestead that has gained the attention of garden-lovers world-wide.

Is this trip right for you?

  • This trip involves plenty of walking over varied terrain and is best suited to travellers with a good level of mobility. Good footwear, clothing for all types of weather, plus perhaps walking poles are recommended. Details on physical activities can be found in the itinerary.

  • As this is a walking trip that is dependent on weather and track conditions and therefore it is very hard to set an exact itinerary that will stay the same throughout the year. Due to weather, recent landslides and ongoing capital works, the tracks that are open and closed can change frequently and without warning. This means that the best laid plans may need to change, and leaders will be flexible and plan alternative walks.

Itinerary

Welcome to the Blue Mountains! Your adventure begins in Sydney (Warrane in the language of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, who are the traditional owners of the land on which Sydney is now located). This is your gateway to a land of rugged peaks, soaring waterfalls and dense eucalyptus forest. Here, you’ll meet your fellow travellers and local leader for an 8.30am welcome meeting and to get your hiking packs ready to go, then it’s time to hit the road and drive to the town of Faulconbridge in the Blue Mountains. On arrival, enjoy a cultural walk with a First Nations guide to learn of the history, culture and ancient wisdom of this region. You’ll learn about the traditional owners of the land, hear stories of one of the world’s oldest living cultures and see how it’s still present and celebrated today. Along the walk, you’ll discover song lines, rock art, ceremonial sits and dreaming stories plus, you’ll have the chance to try bush foods and medicines and learn about ochre painting. After your walk, drive to the town of Katoomba and settle into your accommodation and then get ready for a special night walk.
