Why you'll love this trip
  • Explore the continent-straddling metropolis of Istanbul, and step back in time to when it was Constantinople with the backstreets of the Grand Bazaar and at the Hagia Sophia.
  • Reflect on battles fought and lives lost with a moving visit to the Gallipoli Peninsula, a serene stretch of coastline where it's now hard to picture the horrors of war.
  • Spend two days exploring the cliffside waterfalls, cobblestone alleyways and ancient ruins of Antalya, a city on the Mediterranean Coast.
  • You'll dig into local Turkish delicacies like the famous wet burgers, enjoy a local lunch at a traditional Aspava and get your taste buds tingling with a borek tasting.
  • Discover UNESCO world heritage site - Hattusas Ancient Site - known for its well-preserved temples and royal residences.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This is a trip made for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group of like-minded travellers. The itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time when your leader will offer suggestions. Please budget spending money for optional activities you want to partake in.
  • Don’t let the heat keep you from exploring the world! Summer temperatures can be very high in July and August, though the east will be cooler than the city. The weather can be hot in July and August, but this is also the best time to enjoy the clear water of the Mediterranean – don’t forget your swim gear.
  • You’ll need your walking shoes, a hat, some sunscreen, and a daypack to explore the historical sites. All site tours are guided, but you can wander at your own pace if you prefer.
  • Public transport is better for the environment, and you’ll get an authentic look at daily life, but keep in mind that local transport between locations on this trip can be pretty basic. Travel times may vary depending on traffic conditions, so books, podcasts and car games will be your best friend.

A diverse itinerary that provides a wide range of experiences. The schedule is fast-paced at times with a series of tiring connections on some travel days. The lodging and breakfasts ranged in quality and were generally quite basic.

This is an excellent holiday with a mixture of culture, history and landscapes. the use of public transport really enhances the trip. Itler was an excellent guide and rightly proud of this fascinating and friendly country.

The 18 day Exploring Turkiye was an exciting adventure covering all of the interesting cities and sites that I wanted to see with some free time available. Travelling in a small group made logistics easier when on public transport, which was pretty good, or by van but suggest taking a smaller bag able to be worn as a backpack. Distances are sometimes long so expect some longer travelling days. Cruise around Yekova Island and swimming, most enjoyable day with home cooked Turkish food!

Our guide Safak Emre did a wonderful job. He was very conscientious about our traveling safely, and was very diplomatic in his conduct. Emre is very proud of his country, and his historical knowledge was extensive. He obviously has had a lot of experience with our destinations, and our group was warmly greeted wherever we went. Turkey is an impressively safe and clean country, and the people are friendly (especially the rug hawkers) and polite. On this trip, keep your luggage as light as can be convenient. Walking distances during transfers aren't too long, but often involve elevation changes. Shoes with sturdy soles are recommended, because you will be walking on cobblestone surfaces. The food is delicious.

lucy- Mountainous coastal roads, beautiful turquoise beaches, amazing history, ruins, architecture , walled cities, great hiking trails and quaint canal villages - you are more than just mosques - turkey just kept on giving. great guide- few longer days than advised. some below basis accommodation(mould, cold showers, lack of water and toilet paper on occasion) centrally located noisy hotels some rather light on breakfasts-) itinerary, guide and sights amazing if you can live with this rest book now you won't be disappointed.
