Belgium is part of a border control-free region in Europe known as the Schengen Area, which permits citizens of participating countries to travel freely. Although nationals from many non-EU countries are visa-exempt from the Schengen Area, they still need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) in advance. Nationals from countries that are not visa-exempt must apply for a Schengen visa.

To enter Belgium, you may also need: 

• Valid passport with at least three months of validity after you leave the Schengen Area 

• Proof of sufficient funds 

• Proof of onward travel

Your leader will record your travel insurance details on the first day of the trip. Restaurants will include a service fee within the bill and tipping extra is generally left up to the discretion of the consumer. It's common to round up the bill or leave spare change if the service has been good. You're welcome to tip a little bit more if the service has been particularly good, or if you’re feeling generous.

Tap water in Belgium is considered perfectly safe to drink unless otherwise marked. Make sure you bring a reusable water bottle with you so you can re-fill and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Internet access is generally very good in Belgium, with internet cafes and Wi-Fi hotspots easily found in most cities and major towns.
