Kosovo Tours & Holidays

Tiny Kosovo is Europe’s newest (official) country: a handful of landlocked mountains, poppy-dotted meadows and oak forests smack bang in the middle of the Balkans.

The shadow of conflict in the late 90s has kept Kosovo off the holiday radar, which is a real shame. But go there today and you can feel that shadow lifting. NATO troops may still guard Serbian monasteries, and proper independence is an ongoing struggle, but the headlines now are increasingly good ones: an emerging tourist trade, film festivals in Peja, Pristina’s trendy cafe scene and world-class walking in the Rugova Mountains. Yep, Europe’s youngest member is definitely making up for lost time.

This trip was my second to the Balkans. I was very impressed the first time and decided to give these countries a chance. Each country was charming, authentic, and beautiful. This itinerary provides a good combination of cities, mountains, lakes, and history. Food, drinks, and optional activities were affordable. And the food was great! The best tomatoes and cucumbers I ever taste in my life. The people were very friendly. If you go make sure to try Burek and Raki!

Fantastic trip - a brilliant combination of countryside/mountains, buzzing towns with café cultures and cosmopolitan cities. Our guide Flutra was superb and added an extra dimension to the culture and history of these 3 countries. With an easy pace and also being a bit off the beaten path, this was one of our favourite trips with Intrepid.

A well paced trip with a balanced mix of urban and rural experiences. It was great not to have to jump hotels every night, this really made a difference. All 3 countries shone, it was an amazing couple of weeks to experience so much and such variety. We were so lucky to have Flutra as our guide, nothing was ever too much trouble. We will remember our time with her - and our group - very fondly.
