Why you'll love this trip

  • Sip Andalusian wine varietals and munch local snacks like jamon in a tiny bodega (boutique grocer) on the outskirts of clifftop Ronda.

  • Let a local guide you through the labyrinthian medina in Tangier, where you can barter with vendors over local trinkets before you stop to sip mint tea in a local haunt.

  • Get amongst it in hip, vibrant Seville. Get started with a walking tour with a local guide and then explore at your own pace.

  • Check out the eerily beautiful tomb effigies of the lords of Moguer during a visit to the 14th-century Santa Clara Monastery on an afternoon trip ashore.

  • Wander the ancient Moorish fortifications of the Castle of Silves and get awesome views of the surrounding countryside from the hilltop complex.

Is this trip right for you?

  • This is small ship Adventure Cruising, which means you’ll be sailing on a yacht with 30—50 other people. The boat is spacious and comfortable, but the itinerary focuses more on the destination than on-board activities. Instead of a pool, we have the sea itself. Instead of a casino, we’ve got board games and a good book. There’s also no formal dress code to worry about and Wi-Fi is available for a small charge.

  • Our ship moves under engine power, rather than sailing, so all cabins will experience light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when we drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

  • Onshore activities and excursions will involve a bit of walking. Ancient sites and historic places frequently feature cobbled streets and uneven ground that you may have to navigate in hot conditions. If you have any concerns, please speak to your group leader before taking part.

  • Most of our departures run in peak season, when the seas are calmer. The ship will experience some roll and pitch in choppy conditions, however all of our ships come equipped with stabilisers to minimise movement. There will be seasickness tablets on board and your crew will do all they can to minimise any discomfort

  • There are no lifts (elevators) on board our ships, so you’ll have to navigate a few steep flights of stairs (fitted with handrails) to access all the decks.

Itinerary

Welcome to Malaga! Embarkation begins at 3 pm, but there is plenty to explore in this energetic and creative city if you arrive with time to spare. The hillside Castle of Gibralfaro offers amazing views over the city and is a lovely place to while away a few idle hours. After boarding the vessel in the afternoon, settle in and listen to a safety and welcome briefing. Get to know your fellow travellers over an on-board dinner before setting sail for Sotogrande overnight.

Luggage can be dropped off at the ship from midday. Feel free to explore Malaga at your leisure until boarding commences at 3 pm.
Drive to Ronda in the morning, then set out on a guided walking tour of the Old and New Town. Set high above the deep El Tajo Gorge, Ronda is a spectacular town (and photographers dream) which has long been a magnet for artists and bohemians. Next, visit a family run Bodega just out of town for lunch and wine tasting. The food is all homemade and can consist of Spanish tapas with bread, olive oil, chorizo, cheese, Spanish potato omelette and often paella. Enjoy wine tastings seated outside amongst the beautiful winery. Return to your ship and sail overnight to Tangier, Morocco.

Today the group breaks up into smaller parties for a day tour of Tangier. Explore the medina with a local guide, sip mint tea at Cafe Hafa and perhaps lunch with the group during an optional meal of Moroccan favourites. After you’re all shopped out, continue to the Caves of Hercules, where the hero rested according to Roman and Greek legend. Overnight at port.
