There’s a rich history in Australia to uncover (and we're not just talking about the gold, pearl and opal hotspots)
Across the country, temperatures start their yearly rise, and while the top end is always pretty balmy, September sees a comfortable average of 18-24 across most of the major Australian cities. With an adventure awaiting you in any direction, you’ll have to decide if you spend this month picnicking by the cliffs in Western Australia, jumping in natural pools in the Northern Territory, taking in ancient rock art in Tasmania or swimming with the fishes (aka snorkelling) in the Great Barrier Reef. And, for those interested in the 'rich' history, learn about the oldest family-owned pearl farm in Cygnet Bay, gold in Ballarat and opal mining in Cooper Pedy.

Uluru & Kings Canyon Adventure
Jean-Paul · Traveled September 2024
I would have given 5 stars (excellent guide, bravo Federico, breathtaking scenery, good camping facilities, friendly atmosphere) but the state of the minibus was just UNACCEPTABLE. The ceiling was leaking we had to protect ourselves with umbrellas and plastic ponchos to avoid being drenched. Some compensation is expected from the group. So I can only give 3 stars.

Kakadu, Katherine & Litchfield Explorer
Ruth · Traveled September 2024
Our 4 day camping trip to Litchfield, Kakadu and Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) was a fabulous adventure. Our driver/trip leader was enthusiastic and genuine creating a cohesive group of travellers needing to work together as a team. The locations we visited were outstanding made all the more special by travelling with a small group. Highly recommend

Uluru & Kings Canyon Adventure
Melissa · Traveled September 2024
This Uluru adventure by Intrepid delivered on every level. Ronald our Group leader. He spread joy whilst looking after us ensuring we had the best possible experience. His local knowledge of the place and the aboriginal community was extensive and he shared this in a warm and engaging style. The Group...We all just clicked. All of us from different corners of the world and varied ages but all just really happy to be there, everyone pitched in and chatted, exchanged stories and enjoyed the experience together. Cannot recommend this destination, Intrepid and Ronald
highly enough with words. It was an amazing moment in time! I am now planning my next Intrepid adventure..

Top End & Kakadu Adventure
Laetitia · Traveled September 2024
If you've never been to the NT, or the Kakadu, Nitmiluk, and Litchfield NPs, do this trip. The Intrepid guides as well as those on the boat tours are credits to their companies. I learnt a LOT. FWIW, we did the optional boat tour through the first two Katherine Gorges.
