Where we stay

We put a lot of care in choosing the accommodation we stay in, avoiding the big chain hotels in favour of locally-run establishments offering a unique experience. Whether it's a rustic homestay in Thailand or an extravagant riad in Morocco, we choose good quality operators where most rooms will feature ensuites and air conditioning is standard. Wherever possible we pick hotels that provide triple or quad rooms and always try and offer conjoining rooms when they are available.

17th Century Palace - India

Spend a night at one of Rajasthan's breathtaking 17th Century palaces. With its grand courtyards, colourful dining arcades and heritage rooms, the accommodation alone stands out as one of the highlights of the trip. Get to know the other parents over a game of billiards or kick back in the opulent surrounds while the kids take to the pool.

Rainforest Lodge - Costa Rica

Found deep in the Caribbean rainforest, this riverbank lodge is the perfect retreat away from the bustle of San Jose. Here you can rest up, enjoy some home comforts and unwind poolside. Maybe take a walk to the village or to the beach, then fall asleep to the cry of wildlife stirring in the trees.

'The Intrepid Vietnam Family trip was fantastic. I am a single Mum and it was great to travel with like minded families with other children for my son (almost 9) to interact with and some adult company for me. The itinerary was varied and interesting, covering so much of Vietnam, its culture as well as beach/relaxing time. We were incredibly well fed and the food was amazing. The standard of accommodation was good and most places had a swimming pool to cool off after a hot days sightseeing. I would highly recommend this trip.'

'I love that the trip is designed with children in mind - from the activities to the food options to the accommodation and transport. I love the concept where there are several families - so the kids can hang it together, and I still get adult conversation while spending time with my kids! Soon, our guide, was fabulous - always able to suggest the best places to go, the best food to try, the most interesting things to do. I couldn't possibly put together a trip like that on my own.'

– Jodie Parker, Thailand Family Holiday

'I liked the ease Intrepid provided me and my 8 year old son when we were traveling in Egypt. Our fantastic guide Walid Nawasany was a gem! He organized everything for us, so all we had to do was show up. I also enjoyed the intimacy of traveling with a small group...'

– Leila Salter, Egypt Family Holiday

'A great trip, with an excellent mix. There were interesting things to engage both me and my 8-year-old daughter, both in terms of learning and activities. There was a good mix of sightseeing and relaxing. The hotels were good, particularly the Riad near Taroudant. Issmail was a superb guide, and Mustafa the perfect driver. And the company of other travellers for both of us was great too.'

– Andrew Nex, Morocco Family Holiday

I went to Vietnam because friends told me that it would be relaxing and my daughter and I would enjoy the food. That is true but it was so much much friendly and exciting than that. The Intrepid local guide was brilliant and because it was a Family trip, all the children soon hung out together on occasion, while the parents did the same.
