Explore Croatia was the perfect balance between experience and relaxation. We saw multiple islands, but also had enough "free" or "down" time between tours and experiences to venture out on our own, shop, walk, grab a coffee and get lost. This is the perfect trip for a balance of exploration and relaxation, highly recommend.

The tour leader was superb and the walks spectacular. What is not made clear is that, despite feedback from previous groups, the majority of the driving takes place in the morning and the walks commence after lunch which is far from ideal. The walks are challenging with steep ups and downs (one descent was in the dark), there are limited opportunities to cut them short so read the trip notes carefully before booking.

I can not recommend this trip until Intrepid makes substantial changes to the itinerary. All the hikes start in the afternoon after long morning drives and lunch. The amount of driving required is understated in the itinerary; to combat this, the trip needs to be extended by at least 2 days. Hikes often had to be cut short because of time/group ability. This is not a hiking-focused trip. It is a driving and eating trip with hiking as an afterthought. That said, our guide, Ivana, was excellent and went above and beyond. She should be commended for her positive attitude and professionalism, despite being given a terrible itinerary to lead by Intrepid. The region is spectacular and the potential is there for this to be an excellent hiking trip. But it’s not there yet. Accommodations were poor and, in some places, unacceptable for the price of the trip. Having done several excellent hiking trips with Intrepid, this one unfortunately fell short.
