Outback Tours & Vacations

Vast, unforgiving and mostly uninhabited...

But one thing's for sure: the Australian Outback is one of the most intriguing and beautiful places you'll likely ever see. With its sun-scorched gorges set against blue skies, remarkable monoliths, waterfall-fed swimming holes and ancient First Nations cultures, the Outback was practically made for adventures. Called us biased, but we reckon such places are best explored with the experts (read: locals) who know their way around and can share a tale or two along the way. Just don't forget to pack your Akubra.

Kakadu, Katherine & Litchfield Explorer

This trip is perfect for adventure lovers wanting to escape their city lives and be immersed in the stunning and natural landscapes of the Northern Territory. We were really blessed, as we had a small group therefore, got to know each other well and had a blast especially all the swimming!!!! We learnt so much about indigenous culture and loved seeing all of the rock art in various different remote places. Our tour guide Lauren was calm, efficient and knowledgeable. She made the trip really wonderful for all. I love intrepid and will continue to holiday with them and would not hesitate to always recommend Intrepid in the future to anyone looking for sustainable and easy going holidays with like minded people.

Red Centre & Uluru Explorer

Surpassed my expectations. A rich itinerary with authentic Aboriginal information, exhilarating hikes through magnificent, ever-changing landscapes and a palette of light and textures which provided a constant source of wonderment. Knowledgeable, inclusive, caring and funny guide and interesting, respectful travelling companions. My first, but definitely not last, Intrepid trip.

Uluru & Kings Canyon Adventure

Veronica · Traveled May 2024
Do not trust this organisation to book rooms for you or rent a sleeping bag from them. They can’t reliably do either. The food will be basic or self provided. Very frustrating to deal with them before the trip. The trip itself was average. Read the lines and between the lines in all their small print. The on line customer service is of very limited value and in my experience , downright misleading. The phone customer service is highly variable in standard, but essentially, operatives don’t give a stuff what you think about their ability to provide a service… they’re very quick to take your money though! I’ll never use this bunch of charlatans again and recommend you take your custom elsewhere.

South Australia Outback Adventure

Susan · Traveled May 2024
Horrible trip. Disappointing because tour leader surly, agitated and untrained - had no knowledge of the places we visited. The transport totally unsuitable for the roads. Iga Warta experience should be missed.

Walk Western Australia's Karijini & Ningaloo Reef

Caroline · Traveled May 2024
Highly recommend this trip. The itinerary was a perfect mixture of experiences, action packed but adequate catered down time like amazing sunset dinners and drinks. Our guides Tom and Dan were caring, considerate, knowlegeable , a lot of fun and great cooks too.
