Are you looking to escape to one of our planet's last great wildernesses?
If recent events have taught us anything, it's that there's something to be said for wide-open spaces and getting back to nature. And there's arguably no better place to do that than in Antarctica. The 2022/2023 season is your chance to take in the unique wildlife and glittering landscapes on one of our Antarctica voyages. With plenty of opportunities for whale watching and penguin and seal spotting, there's no reason not to go! With a range of itineraries, on- and off-board activities and a well-equipped ship, all the finer details are taken care of. Come and experience the very best in polar expedition travel.

Why choose Intrepid
Well-equipped ship
Our Ocean Endeavour is built tough; designed to handle the harsh Antarctic wilderness with ease while ensuring your safety at every step of the adventure.
Onboard Experts
Our experienced expedition team are at the top of their fields. You’ll find out everything you want to know from our Antarctic experts, including naturalists and ornithologists. Â
Daily excursions
We don’t call them hands-on, feet-on adventures for nothing. Get closer to the action with, not one, but two daily excursions on land and, via Zodiacs, at sea.Â
Onboard inclusions
Our onboard creature comforts will warm you up after your Antarctic outings. Expect 3-course meals, 24/7 tea and coffee and fascinating evening seminars. Â
Safety
We’re committed to providing the highest safety standards, which is why the Ocean Endeavour, and all our operations teams undergo regular safety audits.
Responsible travel
We’re deeply committed to being a responsible business and take considered steps to minimise our impact, support vital research and promote conservation in the Antarctic. Â
Download your free Antarctica Guidebook
Our Antarctica Guidebook is designed to give you a taste of what an adventure to the world's southern polar region will be like, from the wildlife you might see, to the places you might go and even what to pack for the journey.
Your home on the sea
We know you want to be as comfortable as possible while onboard, which is why we’ve chosen well-equipped vessels with modern conveniences like LED televisions and internet connectivity, along with touches that make each voyage a true pleasure. Each ship boasts onboard chefs to prepare a range of hearty, quality meals, and onboard experts to ensure you spend more time seeing the sights and less time thumbing through a guidebook.
Â
Leave only footprints
‘Sustainable cruising’ might seem like a contradiction in terms, given the history of the big mega liners. But it’s a side of the industry we want to change. Voyages are carbon offset and we refrain from single-use plastics on board. We recycle, cook with sustainable seafood, and use biodegradable cleaning products in bathrooms. It’s all part of our commitment to being a carbon neutral company and, since 2018, a certified B Corp (Benefits Corporation).
We also give back to the region by supporting such organisations as the Mawson’s Huts Foundation. Established in 1997, the foundation conserves the fragile and historic buildings at Cape Denison, Commonwealth Bay, East Antarctica, which were built and occupied by the legendary geologist and explorer Sir Douglas Mawson.
Highlights of the Antarctic

Explore the lesser-visited Eastern Peninsula
Explore Antarctic Peninsula’s remote and rugged east side, a sweeping landscape full of huge icebergs, and islands famous for their enormous penguin colonies, exploration history and geological features and are only navigated a few times per year.

Visit South Georgia Island’s snow-capped mountains
South Georgia Island, a sub-Antarctic island administered by the United Kingdom as part of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, has vast and rugged snow-capped mountains and is the unsung hero of Antarctica.Â
Â

Celebrate Christmas in Antarctica
Take advantage of the holiday period and embark on a festive adventure through Antarctica over Christmas and New Year’s. There will be plenty of unique wildlife to see, so set off and search for penguins, whales and seals among the icy waters. A polar plunge might be the best way to bring in a new year…

Search for whales with WWF
Join Intrepid and special guests from the World Wildlife Fund – Australia (WWF-Australia) on a 14-day expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula and Polar Circle. Search the icy waters and white shores for whales and other creatures by day, then relax and enjoy an illuminating lecture program by night.
Activities
Take your Antarctica experience to the next level with some outdoor adventures. These activities (optional and booked in advance) are offered on many of our trips.
Wildlife
Antarctica is brimming with whales, penguins, seals, birds and more. Here’s a taste of what to expect on your voyage across the Southern Ocean.
