Intrepid Travel statement on U.S. travel bans

June 2025

Intrepid Travel does not support blanket travel bans, such as the one imposed by the U.S. administration on nationals of 12 countries (Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen).

Safety and security are always the company’s top priority, but it believes this particular policy will have negative impacts on communities and cause discrimination against certain religions and cultures.

These travel bans will also deeply impact businesses, communities and individuals. The previous travel ban in 2016 was estimated to have cost the U.S. economy $18 billion and about 107,000 jobs.

As a global business with 31 offices around the world, more than 3,000 staff and tour leaders, and operations in 118 countries, we know that travel is important for keeping families, cultures, communities and economies connected and thriving.

We strongly urge all governments to treat visitors fairly and with compassion.

Travel brings people together, builds understanding and supports livelihoods- it should never be used as a weapon to push us further apart.
