South America walking & trekking tours

Some adventures are simply better in hiking boots

There’s a special bond that develops between a trekker and their boots. It starts the moment you take them out of the box and continues long after you lace them up for that final day on the track. Whether you’re following the well-worn paths to Machu Picchu or discovering new twists and turns along Colombia’s Cocora Valley, each step imprints another memory on your sole. By the time you’ve finished the trek your boots will have more stories to tell than a porter on the Inca Trail. Let your feet do the exploring as you take in indigenous cultures and soaring scenery of South America.

This has to be the best way to understand and appreciate this incredible country and people!! Great guides, food, accommodations and Intrepid staff. The porters and chef were amazing also! Intrepid gives us so much as travelers in a culturally and environmentally sustainable way as it supports locals also. I loved this adventure!!

Wonderful trip with a great group of travellers and an excellent tour leader, Hernan. So many highlights, so much to see and do, so much history, so diverse with being in the Amazon Jungle one day, then high altitude the next day! Cusco was not as cold as I expected. Accommodation was great. Homestay was basic but so fun too. A busy tour, days started anywhere from 6.30am-8am, and it was a great itinerary. Be aware Intrepid has stopped allowing carry on luggage on internal flights, which was not communicated prior to the trip starting. Hernan was a brilliant tour leader who was supporting, kind, great communication and organisation, funny, caring, and absolutely everything needed in a tour leader!
