From cloud-shrouded volcanic peaks to sun-splashed beaches, lost temples to colonial architecture. Central America is filled with natural wonders and merging cultures.
This narrow strait is home to some of the greatest biodiversity in the world. Meet some of the happiest people on earth and see a mix of cultures that can be traced back thousands of years. Stay in historic haciendas in Mexico. Marvel at Maya ruins in Guatemala. Spot monkeys amidst misty canopies in Costa Rica or salsa to sultry beats in Cuba. It’s a haven for outdoor adventurers and those that want to immerse themselves in the local culture. Central America is like nowhere else on Earth.
If you like your Mayan ruins with a touch of disco, then you’ve come to the right place. Set on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, this ancient city comes alive at sunset with a (slightly kitsch but entirely unmissable) sound and light show. The site is dominated by El Castillo, a massive pyramid with 91 steps running along each of its four sides.
Go white-water rafting in Costa Rica
If you’re going to try white-water rafting anywhere, the Pacuare River in Costa Rica is the place. Set among cascading waterfalls and lush rainforests, the warm water is ideal for first-timers. During the calmer moments keep your eyes peeled for jaguars, toucans, ocelots and monkeys.
Coffee all day, salsa all night and a never-ending supply of chocolate in between. This small Guatemalan city is super chilled and an extended stay is the best way to soak it all in. While there are plenty of ruins to be found, the city is famous for its colourful convents, arches and buildings in colourful hues of blue, pink, and yellow.
Havana blast in Cuba
There’s so much to do here, it’ll leave your head spinning. Join the fun with a twirl around the dance floor in a salsa class, check out a baseball game, swing past the mansion-turned-perfume-laboratory at Habana 1791, or grab a guava pastry from one of the vendors along the Malecon. Close out the day with a cigar and a glass of good ol’ fashioned Cuba Libre.

Costa Rica Experience

This trip was the first Intrepid tour I have been on, and it was honestly life changing. Not only have I met amazing people/friends on this trip, but I had the opportunity to indulge in a countries culture to the fullest. I enjoyed all the adventure and culture that I experienced on this trip and highly recommend it to everyone. Not only did I feel well prepared for day to day activities, but I always felt safe. Sofi was also an AMAZING guide and was able to accommodate our group with everything. This will definitely not be my last intrepid tour!!

Beautiful Cuba

The trip to Cuba has been amazing and exceeded my expectations. Our tour guide, Yuri, was very knowledgeable, organised and super professional. The trip started in L'Habana. I loved having the opportunity to stay at a guesthouse and experience some of the Cuban life. We explored old Habana and Yuri provided the group with lots of information about history, architecture, flora and fauna. The following day, we went to Soroa and had the possibility to visit the botanical garden and taste some amazing Cuban food (I am vegan due to food intolerances, and I really appreciate that during the whole trip I have never had any problem with choice, something that I do not take for granted). Vinales was a revelation: it shows how Cubans make the best of what they have. A very small town with a vibrant social life. We took a trip to the tobacco plantation and had a fantastic dinner with a beautiful sunset at the organic farm (the food was delicious). Stop at the Bay of Pigs and a dip in the sea: priceless! Then we went to Cienfuegos - a colonial city where I discovered Beny More'. Dinner at an excellent restaurant and accommodation in another great guesthouse. The following day, we visited Trinidad, a beautiful city with cobblestones and amazing architecture. Then, Santa Clara, to visit the Che Guevara Mausoleum and Museum. Back to l'Habana (plaza de la Revolution), accommodation in a different great guesthouse, a farewell dinner, and a night dancing at a local bar.
The tour perfectly balanced trips, time to chill, seaside, history, food, vitamin R (rum!), and Cuban lifestyle. I am definitely going back to this fantastic island. I was really lucky as the participants in the tour were amazing: we immediately gelled, and it felt like we had known each other for ages.
It was my first time travelling with Intrepid, and the experience has been really positive. I have already booked my next holiday with Intrepid!

An incredible and life changing trip around Cuba. An experience I'll never forget. And if you're thinking of booking- get to it and make sure you ask for Yuri as your tour leader. You won't regret it!

Costa Rica Experience

Could not have better things to say! This was my first trip with a tour group and I will definitely be using Intrepid again. Our guide Marvin was incredible and the activities were very well organized. There were plenty of opportunities to personalize the trip as we travelled depending on whether we wanted to relax or do more activities. Absolutely amazing experience!

Costa Rica Experience

Definitely the best way to see Costa Rica. We saw so many animals thanks to Marvin our guide. There is so much to do but also plenty of time to rest and relax. We ended up spending alot of time as a group including Marvin, going out to eat in the evenings to local places he recommended. It really felt like we go the real Costa Rica - pura vida!
