From quaint port towns, to coral reefs and jungle-covered coastlines, Central America has it all.
Travel through the Pacific Ocean and you’ll be sailing the coasts of Panama and Costa Rica. Due to the size of the small ship, you’ll be able to stop at less touristy ports like Puerto Jiminez and Punta Patino and explore the surrounds on foot. If getting active is more your thing, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to trek the jungles of national parks and the Osa Peninsula, or simply relax on the beaches of the Pearl Islands, with stunning coral reefs just a short swim offshore.

Highlights of Central America cruises

Explore Manuel Antonio National Park
Go trekking along the stunning rainforest trails in Manuel Antonio National Park for the opportunity to spot monkeys, toucans and other tropical wildlife in the area. The park also has stunning beaches, so packing a swimsuit and taking a quick dip is also highly recommended!

See remote wildlife in Costa Rica
The secondary forest on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica is considered one of the most biologically dense places on earth. Go where most people will never venture and visit this remote part of the world, which is home to every type of unusal animal you can think of – from poisonous dart frogs, to big jungle cats.

Relax on the Pearl Islands
The Pearl Islands take their name from the abundance of the jewels that the Spanish Conquistadors found off their beaches in the 16th century. There are nearly 250 islands to discover and many of them are uninhabited, so you may feel like the only people on earth as you snorkel and sunbathe in the shallows.

Canoe down the Mogue River
For a truly Intrepid experience, it’s hard to go past a dugout canoe trip up the Mogue River in Panama. Pass mangrove forests on the way to the village of Mogue, the home of the Embera Indians. They are one of the seven indigenous groups of Panama and are famous for their traditionally made handicrafts.
Why choose Intrepid

Small ships, small groups
With fewer than 50 passengers on every adventure cruise, our groups are the perfect size for mingling at happy hour and really getting to know your fellow travellers. Smaller groups mean more personalised service, like one-on-one chats with your leader about history, culture and food, or your favourite ice-cold beer handed to you by the bar manager at the end of a day of exploring.

Specialised service
We’re right there with you to ensure your adventure is memorable for all the right reasons. Our expert local leaders facilitate incredible land experiences, while the ship’s friendly crew make sure you have everything you need – from a room that’s sparkling clean to a glass of sparkling wine – to enjoy your time on board.

Dining with a local twist
Whether it’s a barbecue on a deserted beach, the catch-of-the day cooked up by your onboard chef or the gourmet breakfast that’s served each morning, our culinary experiences are designed to complement your journey and help you create memories you’ll savour forever – on and off the boat.

Cruise the seas less travelled
Our small ships give you access to those out-of-the way spots the big ships can’t reach. We’ll show you the guidebook favourites from a new perspective, then cruise away from the crowds so you can stroll through seaside villages, swim in hidden coves and get a real insight into local living.

A floating boutique hotel
Our ships combine all the comforts and personality of a boutique hotel with the freedom of the open water. Relax in your well-appointed cabin and wake to a different outlook each morning. Enjoy panoramic views from the sun deck, spend time in comfortable lounges and spacious dining rooms, or dine al fresco underneath a sea of stars.

Sustainable travel
We strive to use travel as a force for good. That’s why we choose to give back to the communities we visit, carbon offset all our trips and take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. We’ve been officially certified as the world’s largest travel B Corp, which means when you choose Intrepid Travel, you can rest assured you’re travelling to improve the planet.
