Early explorers didn’t have the luxury of booking their expeditions online.
These days it’s a bit easier: we run a variety of Antarctica tours between November and March each year, cruising in comfort on well-equipped polar vessels, offering three course meals, onboard amenities, and expert leaders. But don’t be fooled: as adventures go, this is the big one. You’ll cross the infamous Drake Passage and set foot on the Antarctic Peninsula, explore ice-dotted bays by zodiac and get up close with gentoo penguins and migrating blue whales - the reasons why you should visit Antarctica go on and on. Because you're travelling with Intrepid Travel, you'll experience this incredible part of the world in a way that builds human connection, supports local communities, and respects the environment. 'Antarctic tours' doesn't really do it justice. These are Antarctic adventures.

Onboard experts
There's only so much you can read in a guidebook, especially when it comes to such rare and extraordinary locations. That's why we have a range of specialists on board Ocean Endeavour for every polar journey, from historians to marine biologists and hiking guides. With experts at hand, you can be assured that no question will be left unanswered.

Todd - Naturalist
"I’m a firm believer in conservation and creating awareness through education and sharing our experience. I love sharing the polar regions with guests, connecting people to the environment and using my job as a platform to teach people."

Annie - Marine biologist
"I love my job because everyday you don’t quite know what’s going to unfold. For me, a big part of it is about being able to educate and shift people's understanding of wildlife, and to give them an experience that will last in their memories for a lifetime"

John - Eclipse chaser
“I have been involved in the planning and escorting of groups to view solar eclipses since the early 1980s and am looking forward to travelling on the Antarctic Solar Eclipse Cruise.”

Responsible travel
For more than 30 years, Intrepid has been taking travellers around the globe. Right from the beginning, we’ve been deeply committed to being a responsible business and understanding the impact we have on the places we visit. Our Antarctica expeditions are no exception to this.
Like all Intrepid trips, Antarctica voyages are carbon-neutral, plus our seven-point Climate Action Plan includes a commitment to double offset our Polar Expeditions. Additionally, our approach to responsible travel in Antarctica is underpinned by our commitment to citizen science, research partnerships, conservation initiatives and our pledge for continual improvement.
We incorporate citizen science initiatives into all of our Polar voyages, most notably with our partnership with the World Wildlife Fund on WWF Giants of Antarctica sailings. This allows travellers to work alongside WWF-Australia’s scientists to further their research into whales. Plus, deepens a traveller's sense of purpose in a destination – helping them to better understand, respect and protect our natural environment, even after they’ve returned home.
We’re proudly registered with the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO) who work alongside the Antarctic treaty to enforce strict environmental standards that guide us to protect the fragile Antarctic ecosystem.
