Absolutely. All passengers travelling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. It's important to understand that each country you visit may have its own specific entry requirements, and some destinations mandate travel health insurance for all foreign travellers, regardless of their nationality.

Your leader will record your travel insurance details on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is an essential part of every journey.

Hobart and Tassie, in general, are year-round destinations. There's a buzz in summer (December-February) with alfresco diners along the waterfront, warm weather for exploring the Botanic Gardens and walking trails around Hobart and heaps of festivals and events.

Spring (September-November) and autumn (March-May) are great times to go walking thanks to seasonal colours throughout Hobart and southern Tasmania, while winter is perfect if you love crisp winter days and evenings spent rugged up in cosy pubs around a log fire.

In short, pretty much everything. Bring clothes you can layer, a jumper or jacket, wet weather gear, sunscreen, a hat and a beanie. And don't be surprised if you wear all these things on the same day!

Hobart is a fairly casual place, although locals do tend to dress up if they are 'hitting the town' at night. Smart casual is the norm at restaurants in Hobart.
