Mission Beach tours & vacations
You’re more likely to spot cassowaries than crowds at Mission Beach
Stop by Mission Beach and soak up all the classic Far North Queensland favourites. As the closest access point to the Great Barrier Reef, there’s a whole lot of water-based exploring to do. For those wanting to stay on land, trails through the tropical beaches and neighbouring rainforests can keep active travellers occupied, while nature lovers can try their hand at spotting a cassowary.

Spot cassowaries in the wild
Mission Beach and its surrounding area are favourite hangouts of the cassowary. A very large, flightless bird, the cassowary is an endangered Australian animal that can often be spotted around Mission Beach. However, if you see one, just be sure to give it plenty of space.
Go snorkelling
As the closest access point to the Great Barrier Reef, Mission Beach offers great snorkelling and diving. After a short cruise to the coral, enjoy plenty of space and fewer crowds while you’re out spotting tropical fish and bright aquatic fauna.
