Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises).

However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

There's only one way to get to Bruny Island and that's on the Bruny Island Ferry. There's also no public transport on the island, so you'll also need to take a car on the ferry if you're not joining us on a small group trip.

You'll struggle to get around Bruny Island if you don't have a car, as there's no public transport or car rental services. This means you'll have to take a car onto the ferry so you can explore with ease.

Bruny Island has a cool temperate climate with four distinct seasons. There's not really a 'best' time to visit as each season is special in its own way.

However, the island shines in summer when the weather is warm and sunny, and extended daylight hours mean you can explore well into the evening.

Winters are cool and wet, but great for getting cosy with a cool climate wine, while autumn and spring see mild weather and smaller crowds.

Bruny Island is home to abundant native wildlife. Here are some of the local critters you may be lucky to spot on your trip:

• Fairy penguins

• Swift parrots

• Short tail shearwaters

• Forty spotted pardalotes
