Intrepid Expands its Publishing Portfolio with Intrepid Food

October 2026

The book features 100 cultural food experiences and recipes from around the world.

Intrepid Travel has expanded its publishing portfolio with the launch of Intrepid Food, which features a hundred food experiences and recipes from around the world. Bringing together stories from 58 contributors across 19 countries, including travel experts and writers, the book is a curation of unforgettable food moments celebrating the meals, traditions, stories and people that make travel so memorable.

Intrepid Food is an experience-led book that goes beyond just recipes. It combines local knowledge, insider tips and personal recommendations to inspire travellers to engage with local communities, try something unexpected and explore a little further, while emphasising the connections that are forged when food is shared.

Highlights including trying rye bread ice cream in Iceland, enjoying a feast cooked under the stars on a single-burner portable stove in Uganda, eating giant gourami in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam and tasting frankincense-infused honey in Oman.

Natalie Placko, Global Brand Director at Intrepid Travel commented:

“Food has a way of connecting us and often the most memorable culinary moments on a trip are unplanned. Intrepid Food brings together travel experts, locals and writers to share uncommon and unforgettable food experiences they’ve discovered on their travels. It celebrates the memorable meals, cherished recipes and meaningful connections that stay with us long after a trip ends, inspiring travellers to try something new and embrace the unexpected and experience the world through food.”

Intrepid Food showcases food experiences across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and Oceania and includes details on the travellers and contributors behind the stories. It marks the latest evolution of Intrepid’s publishing venture with Hardie Grant Explore, bringing the collection to 11 titles, including Intrepid’s inaugural book The Intrepid List, as well as Intrepid Culture, Intrepid Outdoors and destination guidebooks covering Greece, New Zealand, Italy, Vietnam, Japan, Iceland and Australia.

Intrepid operates 20 dedicated food tours across four continents, alongside thousands of local food experiences offered on more than 900 trips worldwide. Led by a local guides and travelling in small groups, these adventures feature immersive, locally-led culinary moments designed to connect travellers with the people and places they visit. Earlier this year, Intrepid also released a list of ‘Endangered Dishes’, highlighting dishes from around the world that are at risk of disappearing and encouraging travellers to seek out authentic, locally-rooted cuisine, while supporting the communities that preserve these culinary traditions.
