Short Breaks

More travel in less time

So, you’ve got a few free days, a whole lot of curiosity and maybe a dream destination in mind – but you don’t have a ton of time to spare. Our short itineraries are ideal for those who need a total reset or want to test out a destination or travel style without committing to the full bit. If you love it, come back for more.

Whether you’re new to travel, low on leave or just craving a quick escape from the every day, these short adventures are designed to make every moment count. You’ll travel with an expert local leader handling all the logistics for you, opening the door to genuine connection and bringing you on a packed itinerary for some in-depth exploration. It’s real, not rushed.

Just imagine – you leave work on Thursday, touch down in Guatemala, hike an active volcano, explore the streets of Antigua, and you’re back in the office on Tuesday with a new stamp in your passport and a wild story to casually drop in your next meeting. Maybe that’s what your manager meant about optimizing efficiency – let’s take a look at the trips and circle back.

Leader-led vs Independent Short Breaks

An Intrepid leader in a red shirt smiling with two travellers on a board walk in the forest.
Leader-led

A classic Intrepid trip, but make it short and sweet. You’ll have a full itinerary led by an expert local leader who’s with you every step of the way, sharing their culture and introducing you to their friends. It’s the perfect way to see and do a lot in just a few days, with all the local insight and none of the hassle. Travelling with someone who calls the destination home adds depth and authenticity, making moments more meaningful.

Independent

You won't be with an Intrepid leader, but you’ll still be in great hands. Each included activity is run by an experienced guide from our trusted local partners to make sure you still get an impactful trip even with limited time. You’ll have transportation and accommodation sorted, plus a detailed itinerary with a focus on purposeful discovery. But, outside of tours and excursions, you’ll be on your own independent exploration.

Short Breaks highlights

Float along a Mayan canal

Sure, anyone can go to Mexico but how many have floated down a Mayan canal? An adventure through Yucatan’s Peninsula will bring you through the sacred Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve by boat, visits to ancient Mayan ruins and if that’s not cool enough, lunch with women in the Tankah Community – how’s that for a long weekend?

A landscape imagine of green, terraced, rolling hills in the prosecco region of Italy and a blue sky
Cycle through the Prosecco Hills of Italy

It's one thing to sip wine in Italy, it’s another to cycle through the vineyards with a local leading the way. Sample five of the region’s best wines paired with local produce in Conegliano as you learn about the cultivation methods that make their specialties so special. Explore the area on two wheels as you ride along scenic routes that weave through the vines on the land that brings each glass to life.

Hang out in the canopy of Costa Rica

Trade the ground for treetops at Mistico Hanging Bridges Park in La Fortuna. Cross six sky-high bridges for some wild canopy views as you check out Costa Rica from a different perspective (literally). Spot colourful birds, maybe lock eyes with a sloth and learn about the forest’s ecosystem while you hover above it all. Then, relax in some volcanic hot springs, because, you know, pura vida.

Scale the white cliffs of Normandy

Start your day strolling through Monet’s dreamy gardens, then spend your afternoon in the artistic Jardin d’Etretat in Normandy, France. Hike up the iconic Falaise d’Amont and its cliffside chapel or go a bit further to Falaise d’Aval for views of the legendary white cliffs and sea arches. Not sure what those names mean? Look them up – we bet you’ll suddenly have five days free.
