Kosovo Tours & Holidays

Tiny Kosovo is Europe’s newest (official) country: a handful of landlocked mountains, poppy-dotted meadows and oak forests smack bang in the middle of the Balkans.

The shadow of conflict in the late 90s has kept Kosovo off the holiday radar, which is a real shame. But go there today and you can feel that shadow lifting. NATO troops may still guard Serbian monasteries, and proper independence is an ongoing struggle, but the headlines now are increasingly good ones: an emerging tourist trade, film festivals in Peja, Pristina’s trendy cafe scene and world-class walking in the Rugova Mountains. Yep, Europe’s youngest member is definitely making up for lost time.

I am glad that I chose intrepid to see Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia. Transport was organised throughout the trip and it would have been difficult to do this trip independently. Djordje suggested activities at each destination that enabled me to appreciate the region.

In this trip we learned a great deal about Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia. We learned old but also modern history, talked to locals, and visited historic locations but also relaxing tourist locations. Good trip.

This is a well paced, safe tour of three very interesting countries, taking in time in both cities and the countryside. You get to visit monasteries, mosques, forts and walk in the mountains.

A great trip into a lesser visited area of Europe. A fantastic group of likeminded travellers and an even better tour leader (Flutra Limani) made this a memorable holiday: lots of nature and wilderness, great culture and meeting even our leader´s Mum for dinner: pricelss
