Why you'll love this trip

  • Explore the glacial wilderness of Svalbard – home to the northernmost city on Earth, lush Arctic flora and sweeping mountain scenery – by foot, kayak and Zodiac.
  • Visit Ny-Alesund – once an expedition base for polar explorers like Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen, this settlement is now a scientific hub conducting vital research into how climate change is impacting the region’s ecosystems.
  • Experience the sensation of the midnight sun – a phenomenon that occurs in the Arctic summer where the sun remains above the horizon 24 hours a day. This means more hours of daylight for expeditions!
  • See Arctic wildlife like walruses, reindeer, beluga and bowhead whales, seals, rare seabirds and the elusive polar bear.
  • Cruise into the Arctic ice pack – the icy cover over the Arctic ocean. Navigate through the narrow channels of this crystallised region aboard the Ocean Albatros, with plenty of opportunities for wildlife spotting along the way.
