Our average group size of 10 (usually 3 to 5 like-minded families) means we can use local transport, eat at family-run restaurants, and stay in traditional guesthouses and homestays. All relations are welcome – as long as you’re with a child aged between 5 and 17, you’re a family in our eyes.
Trips with teenagers
Trips they'll remember long after they fly the nest
Between work, school and life being, well, life, finding quality time with the kids can be hard. Our family holidays for teenagers are a great way to connect without the distractions. Built for young explorers aged 10 to 17, they’re more active than our other family trips, with plenty of activities that’ll have you laughing and learning about the world together. That might look like tearing through the treetops on a zipline in the Pyrenees, or trying to drift off to the sound of rustling bushes in the Okavango Delta. Plus, the kids usually make new friends, and the grown-ups appreciate having other adults to hang out with. It’s a win-win.

It’s one thing to go on safari in Kruger National Park during the day, but camping is where the fun really begins. After sundown, the park hums and rattles with wildlife activity. Perhaps you’ll spot a hyena out hunting or an impala foraging a late-night feed. You can relax knowing the camp is secured by a fence, but there might still be a few nervous giggles as you and the kids try to drift off to the sounds of the bush!
Grab your paddle and hold tight as you take on Bali’s Ayung River. Feel your heart tick a few beats faster as you churn through grade II and III rapids, then catch your breath as the river eases into a gentler stretch past rainforests and rice paddies. There’s nothing quite like a shared challenge to get you and your teens working as one.
Sandwiched between the eastern Pyrenees, Andorra is like a big outdoor playground. Bond with the kids as you try all sorts of nature-based activities that’ll get everyone out of their comfort zone. We’re talking ziplining over pine forests, mountain biking around alpine lakes and rafting through frothy rivers. Round it all off with family-style hospitality and plenty of hearty Pyrenean food.
Get active with your teens on a cycling adventure through the rice paddies of Mai Chau. Going at a steady pace, you’ll ride past lush terraces and small villages, before stopping for an embroidery class at a social enterprise that helps preserve traditional crafts of Thai minority groups who settled in the region. Finish up at a retreat-style lodge to rest your legs by the pool – you deserve it.
Why choose us
One of the hardest parts of family travel is keeping everyone happy, which is why our trips have loads of fun, educational activities for all ages. We keep travel time to a minimum, use hotels with pools where we can and include plenty of downtime so you and the kids can do your own thing. Your leader can also suggest activities based on your kids' hobbies or curriculum.
Our leaders are specially trained to run family adventures and they get along great with the kids. You can also relax knowing we use trusted local operators and run safety assessments on all our activities and transport to make sure they meet our strict safety policy. You'll all be well taken care of.
Making a difference has been part of our journey from day one. Through our non-profit, The Intrepid Foundation, we support organisations driving change around the world. And as a certified B Corp, we’re committed to doing good through the joy of travel.
