Why choose Intrepid

Travellers watch the sun setting over dead horse point, North America

Straight to the heart

Your time is precious, and North America is huge. Our trips are your shortcut to the heart of each thumping city or rugged national park. Small group of travellers stand in front of Golden Gate Bridge

The small group advantage

The most memorable adventures are ones you can share. With the smallest group tour size in North America, there's an opportunity to make meaningful connections with like-minded explorers. Fewer travellers means you get more than just a photo out of a coach window.

Stay your way

A region this diverse deserves accommodation to match. Stargaze from your wilderness camp in the Canadian Rockies, get cosy in rustic cabins in Yellowstone National Park, or rest up in a hostel after a night out in New Orleans. There’s lodging for every kind of traveller, from rugged explorer to comfort seeker.

Less driving, more exploring

There’s a lot to cover in North America. We’ve tested our routes to make sure itineraries aren’t rushed, and that there’s less driving with longer stays to explore key destinations. You’ll have a flight here and there, if needed, to cut down on travel time so you can enjoy more of the good stuff.

Smiling Intrepid local leader in front of sign in Nashville, Tennessee

Love your local leader

We realised early on that the best folks to show you the heart of a destination are, funnily enough, the ones that live there. These are our leaders: travel experts and friendly locals who know their countries back-to-front, from every national park lookout to each hidden dive bar. They’re the smiling face of Intrepid (and we couldn’t be prouder).

Sustainable travel

We strive to use travel as a force for good. That’s why we choose to give back to the communities we visit, carbon offset all our trips and take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. We’re the world’s largest certified travel B Corp, which means when you choose Intrepid Travel, you can rest assured you’re travelling to improve the planet.

How we get around

Our vehicle of choice is the 14-seat Ford Transit. Spacious, comfortable, sturdy and safe – it’s hard to beat for a cross‑country road trip. If you’re on the taller side – say, more than six foot – don’t worry, there’s some seats with extra leg room available.

Each of our vehicles comes equipped with large windows and a storage trailer, individual seats with seatbelts and headrests, air conditioning, wi-fi (on board our US vehicles) and charging ports.

What to do in 1 week in North America

One week in North America? Take it easy; focus on a specific section and do it well. There’s no point racing around and trying to tick off everything at once – jumping on overnight buses and rushing to monuments with time for just one picture is not a holiday, in our eyes.

Instead, you could discover the best of Yosemite National Park with two full days filled with hiking, biking and admiring the natural landscapes. Or experience America’s old and new, with Antebellum architecture and down-home cuisine sandwiched among theme parks and beach time. If you’re at one with nature, a week spent on Canada’s pristine Vancouver Island, full of Douglas fir trees, sandy beaches and world-class surf breaks is a stellar option. Whatever your choice, a week in North America opens up a world of exploration.
