East Coast Australia highlights
Drive along 75 Mile Beach
75 Mile Beach isn’t just a gateway to some of K'gari’s most famous attractions, it's also an official highway with all the usual road rules and an airstrip. A 4WD is the only permitted vehicle on K'gari, so buckle up and get ready for an off-road adventure.
Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef
Explore one of the world's largest coral reefs on a day tour from sites like Airlie Beach. It takes just a few hours to reach the outer-reef pontoon, where you can swim with fish in just about every colour of the rainbow. If you're lucky, you might see turtles or graceful stingrays gliding past.
Count the Twelve Apostles
If the Great Ocean Road is the journey, then the Twelve Apostles are the (main) destination. Naturally formed more than 10 million years ago by wind and water erosion, these rugged rock formations rise 45 metres out of the ocean. Check out the last seven still standing.
Discover Atherton Tablelands
Raised more than 700 metres above sea level, the area of Atherton Tablelands boasts not one, but multiple ecosystems. In its rainforest region, Millaa Millaa Falls makes a scenic splash among the dense greenery. Stop by for a refreshing dip with a view.
Sail the Whitsundays
Make the most of your time in the waters of the Whitsundays with two nights on board a sailboat. Stop by the best and brightest snorkelling locations, refuel with fresh on-deck meals and spend time on the sand of Whitehaven Beach.
See the Three Sisters of the Blue Mountains
Echo Point Lookout is located just outside the national park and is arguably a must-visit lookout in the Blue Mountains. It offers a picture-postcard view of the famous Three Sisters rock formation and marks the start of some of the most popular walks in the area. From here, you can also see the Ruined Castle and Mount Solitary.
