Fantastic trip - you start and end at a town where you can get a train to Machu Picchu, so not the same as the Inca trail. But it was beautiful and deserted - we saw no other tourists the whole time (except for 2 mountain bikers from Lima towards the end) and just local farmers from the villages at the start. Felt very lucky to see such amazing scenery with no one around. Our guide Ale was sensational and the horsemen and chef all totally fantastic. They took amazing care of us and were so friendly.

This may not be the Inca Trail, but it is still beautiful and cultural. To stand in the Andes and listen to the silence, there are no words. It is still pristine as you wander up through farming communities and then on to the highlands. The waterfall is rather spectacular also and of course Machu Picchu itself. If you are lucky enough to have Kleberth Ovalle as your guide, you will leave much enriched.
