Premium Rwanda & Gorillas of Uganda
Jenny · Traveled July 2024
This trip was at a very relaxed pace. Food was really good (although mostly US/European food which was disappointing for me). The prime activity, gorilla trekking was a lot of fun. We were assigned the easiest gorilla family and yet ended up hiking the second longest amount of time because the family was constantly on the move. It can work out that way! I did this trip as a way to relax and rest following my Kilimanjaro climb, it was a great way to chill out!

I had a very nice time on the Uganda/Rwanda trip. Trekking to see gorillas in the wild was a really beautiful experience. It can be unpredictable though, our gorilla group was on the move and we ended up hiking up and down steep hills from 9a-4p which is unusually long. The hotels were both stunning and relaxing. I did the Batwa experience rather than a second trekking tour and enjoyed learning the history of the Batwa which was educational.

This was a major "bucket list" trip for me and Intrepid delivered as promised. The leaders/guides Eric and Prim were amazing and the two hotels are very different but fabulous. Rwanda's tragic history and remarkable Renaissance are truly intriguing and inspiring. The gorilla experience in Uganda is beyond amazing. The trek is grueling but don't be deterred. As the slowest and probably oldest in my group, I hired a porter and made it on my own two feet.

Incredible crew and trip! Long drives but 100% WORTH IT! Read thru so you’re clear on drive times. So many once in a lifetime experiences packed into a two week camping adventure. You will come home more clear and appreciative of the privledges you have. Do it! Asante Darlene, purity, Daniel and Stephen!

Pros. Incredible journey. Darlene was a fantastic trip leader, Highlight of the trip. Cons. Do not pre book balloon at 625$ as it can easily be purchased for 480$ on the go. Accommodation upgrades as listed as “available” are only available half the time. 2000 miles so lots of drive days.
