Blue Mountains tours & holidays
Discover the hidden gems in these mountains
A short step away from Sydney’s streets is a blue-toned breath of fresh air, aptly called the Blue Mountains. This Australian region may not be as famous as the white sand beaches, but it's earned its title as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you can circle cliffs and get a full-scale view of Wentworth Falls, find the perfect lookout point to spot the Three Sisters or dive deep into the mountain’s Jenolan Caves system. In your free time, you can even get into the treetops on one of the exciting forest cable rides. See for yourself why they call these the Blue Mountains.
Blue Mountains highlights
Step into the wonders of the Jenolan Caves
Take a Jenolan Caves tour and learn about the history of this impressive cave system in the Blue Mountains, widely regarded as one of the most spectacular in Australia. Named Binoomeal in the local Aboriginal Gundungurra language and translated to ‘dark place’, these deep caves hold a lot of history for Traditional Custodians.
See the Three Sisters of the Blue Mountains
Echo Point Lookout is located just outside the national park and is arguably a must-visit lookout in the Blue Mountains. It offers a picture-postcard view of the famous Three Sisters rock formation and marks the start of some of the most popular walks in the area. From here, you can also see the Ruined Castle and Mount Solitary.
Journey to Wentworth Falls
Make the short trek to Fletchers Lookout and carry on up the stairs to the impressive 100-metre waterfall known as Wentworth Falls. You’ll likely hear it before you see it, but make sure you continue to catch sight of water falling in sheets down the green, rocky cliff to the pools below.
Play I-spy with native animals
Keep an eye out for native animals such as koalas high in the trees, graceful lyrebirds, noisy sulphur-crested cockatoos and kangaroos hopping through the bush. Try to spot a green and golden bell frog or even a tiger quoll, which are the largest living carnivore on mainland Australia.
