Dine on local delicacies
After all that exploring, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Luckily, Bruny Island has a great selection of locally made, brewed and caught produce. Whether you fancy sitting underneath leafy eucalyptus trees as you sample some of Tasmania’s best cheeses or sipping on cool climate wines at a family-run vineyard, your taste buds will be more than satisfied here.
Wander South Bruny National Park
Reconnect with nature among the wild seascapes and lush forests of South Bruny National Park. Loved for its diverse coastal scenery and captivating landscapes (not to mention the famous Cape Bruny Lighthouse), a couple of hours spent wandering through the park will show you what makes Bruny Island so special.
Walk to Truganini Lookout at The Neck
Few sights on Bruny Island are as spectacular as the view from Truganini Lookout. Located at The Neck (the isthmus connecting north and south Bruny Island), this lookout is named after Truganini, a prominent Aboriginal Nuenonne woman from Bruny Island who died in 1876. Read a little about her history and the reason for the memorial. While the long staircase makes it an effort to get up there, the 360° views at the top are worth every step.
