Las Vegas is a great starting point to easily reach national parks in Utah and Arizona like Zion, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon, plus Death Valley and Joshua Tree in California.  

Yes! Vegas is way more than just its casinos – it’s also home to world-class shows and performances of all kinds and top-rated restaurants. And since it’s a good place to fly in to easily reach many national parks, it’s worth adding to the itinerary as a start or stopping point. If your trip ends in Vegas, there are also some great spas to unwind after an adventure.  

The USA has tons of national parks, but it’s not always easy to reach them since public transportation isn’t dependable. You do need a car to visit national parks as the Southwestern scenic areas are difficult to reach. The best time to visit Las Vegas and the nearby national parks is during the shoulder months of spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). This is when daytime temperatures are more comfortable and ideal for exploring parks like the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon without the high heat or snowy cold.
