Why choose Intrepid

Traveller with a Maasai local

The ultimate adventures

You can’t travel to Africa without considering going on a safari but spending time with local Maasai people in a remote region of Kenya is just as memorable. That’s why we’ve included the big-ticket items, as well as plenty of free time and off-the-grid experiences.

Female leader in Africa

Local leaders, local connections

Travelling with an experienced leader means you can just enjoy the moment, rather than worrying about how to get from Tanzania to Zanzibar! They’ll also share stories and take you to places that only the locals know about.

Group of travellers in Botswana

Small (but not too small) groups

Our groups are made up of 10 travellers on average. That’s big enough to create a good vibe, but small enough to explore a destination independently. And if you’re travelling solo, it’s the perfect number of new friends.

Travelers looking at an Elephant

A sustainable way to travel

We believe that travelling sustainably is important. Through our not-for-profit The Intrepid Foundation, we are committed to supporting projects around the world – from reducing carbon in the environment to supporting the livelihoods of local communities.

South Africa camping

Stay real in cool places

We think where you lay your head at night can be just as cool as what you see during the day. Whether that be camping on the coast of   or sleeping under the stars in the Sahara Desert.

Ultimate itineraries

We include both iconic and unexpected experiences in our trips. This means you’ll see the big-ticket attractions of a destination, plus enjoy some surprising local moments too.

Simple, well-located accommodation

All your accommodation is taken care of and on our trips rooming is organised on a twin-share basis. Local, sustainable transport

Getting from one place to another each day is included in your trip experience. We like to do things the local way, which can mean anything from Japanese bullet train to a Thai tuk tuk.

A brand-new crew

Whether you’re travelling solo or with friends from home, you’ll never be travelling alone. With an average group size of 10 people, you’ll never be lacking a dinner buddy or someone to snap a photo of you.

Plenty of downtime

We know you want to choose your own adventure sometimes, which is why our trips have plenty of built-in free time. Your local leader will be full of good ideas for epic ways to fill it.

Reviews

This is a fantastic trip. Saw the Big Five and had wonderful encounters with the big cats including lions, leopards and cheetahs. If you want animals, breathtaking scenery, fresh air, stars and excitement - this trip is for you.
